Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your What's For Dinner?! (WFD) account, the meal-decision app by This is Bullish, and the data linked to it. You can delete your account from inside the app, or by emailing us; either way, the steps below tell you exactly what happens.

How to request deletion

You have two ways to delete your WFD account and its data:

Option 1 — In the app

  1. Open the What's For Dinner?! app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to SettingsAccount.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

Your account is closed straight away, and the associated data is removed on the timeline set out below.

Option 2 — By email

  1. Email help@whatsfordinner.uk from the email address on your account.
  2. Put “Account deletion request” in the subject line so we can act on it quickly.
  3. We’ll confirm your request, delete your account, and let you know when it’s done. We respond within one month, and usually much sooner.

Emailing from your account address helps us verify it’s really you; we may ask a follow-up question if we can’t match the request to an account.

What is deleted, what is kept, and for how long

When you delete your account, we delete the personal data we hold about you in the app. Some limited data is kept for a short period, either because the law requires it or because it sits in routine backups that cycle out on their own.

DataWhat happens
Account and household dataYour account, profile, meals, swipes, matches, weekly plans, shopping lists and any dietary tags or preferences you entered are deleted within 30 days of your deletion request.
Email signup / mailing listIf you also joined our email list, tell us and we’ll delete that too. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.
Routine backupsLimited copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period after deletion, then cycle out automatically. They’re not used for anything else.
Server logsShort-lived technical logs are held by our hosting provider for no more than 30 days, then deleted.
Records we’re required to keepWhere the law requires us to retain something (for example, a record of consent), we keep only the minimum necessary, and nothing more.

Deleting your account is permanent and can’t be undone. Once your data is gone we can’t restore your meals, matches or plans, so you may want to note anything you want to keep first.

This process reflects the rights and retention periods in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. If you only want to correct or access your data rather than delete it, or you have any question about deletion, email help@whatsfordinner.uk and we’ll help.
