About the app
What is What’s For Dinner?!
What’s For Dinner?! (WFD) is a mobile app for households tired of the nightly “what do you want to eat?” conversation. Instead, everyone in your household swipes, meals you love make matches, matches automatically build into plans, plans automatically build into shopping list, and that’s dinner sorted. No more dinner indecision, repeat meals and last-minute takeaways. It’s made for couples, families, parents and housemates who share food decisions. Available on iOS and Android.
Why WFD exists

Hello, we’re Maria and Ash, a busy couple (of parents) sick of the unpaid job to produce an answer to “what’s for dinner?” by 6pm, every day, forever. It’s usually one person that holds it; the noticing, the remembering, the suggesting, the being shot down. We found the question causes more friction than the cooking ever did, because it isn’t a food problem. WFD was born from the real pain of this question, and continues to be the real solution we needed. It saves us time, money, and arguments. We’d love to share it with you.
What the app actually does
- Swipe on meals. Love it or skip it. Everyone in the household gets an honest say; no politics, no mind-reading.
- Decide together. Add the people you eat with. You swipe on your phone, they swipe on theirs. If someone forgets, the plan still builds from whoever did; nobody's dinner waits on anyone else.
- Match on dinner. When you both love a meal, it's a match. That's dinner decided; tonight sorted.
- Plan the week. Matched meals drop into a weekly dinner plan, so you decide once instead of nightly. Then edit it like a real planner: swap a meal, move it to another night, lock the ones you're sure of, skip a night you won't be cooking.
- Shop the plan. A shopping list that automatically adapts to meet the plan at anytime, with every ingredient mapped to a real product at your supermarket. Shop once for the week, or per-meal last minute, or let the Personal Shopper put the whole list into your Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ocado or Morrisons trolley on iPhone.
- Know what's for dinner. The Tonight view answers the question before anyone has to ask it.
The full flow, step by step, is on How it works.
Who it’s for
- Couples who love each other but not this question
- Families juggling four sets of preferences
- Parents planning around picky eaters
- Housemates splitting the food admin
- Busy households who decide at the fridge door
- One person planning for the house, who wants the others to have a say when they get round to it
- Anyone tired of asking, including people cooking for one
Who it’s not for
- Medical, allergy or nutritional advice; WFD shows calories and macros per serving as a guide, but it doesn't verify ingredients or allergens, so always check suitability yourself
- Restaurant discovery; WFD is about what you cook and eat at home
