WFD for couples
The dinner decision app for couples.
What's For Dinner?! (WFD) is a swipe-to-match dinner-decision and meal-planning app for couples, families and households: everyone swipes on meals, you match on one you both want, matches build your weekly plan, and the plan builds your shopping list. Available on iPhone and Android.
Like Tinder, but for what you’re cooking tonight; and the match is with the person you already live with.
The “I don't mind” problem
You know the loop. One of you asks “what do you want for dinner?”, the other says “I don’t mind”, and twenty minutes later you’re ordering a takeaway neither of you especially wanted. It isn’t about food. Asking is work, suggesting is risk, and by 6pm neither of you has a decision left to spend. So the question bounces between you until the hungriest person loses.
What’s For Dinner?! (WFD) removes the question entirely. Nobody has to propose, nobody has to veto out loud, and “I don’t mind” becomes an actual answer: a meal you both already swiped yes on. Why the question causes arguments goes deeper.
How matching works for two
You each get a swipe
Add your partner to your table. You swipe on meals on your phone, they swipe on theirs; on the sofa, on the commute, in the queue. Love it or skip it, honestly.
A match is dinner decided
When you both love the same meal, it's a match. No negotiation, no mind-reading, no one person proposing meals for the other to shoot down.
Matches build the week
Matched meals drop into a weekly dinner plan, so you decide once instead of nightly. The Tonight view answers the question before either of you asks it.
The plan builds the shopping list
One shopping list, generated from the plan, adapting when the plan changes. Shop once for the week or per-meal last minute.
What WFD does, in six lines
- Swipe on meals — love it or skip it; everyone in the household gets a say
- Match together — when two people love the same meal, that's dinner decided
- Weekly plan — matched meals build the week automatically
- Shopping list — auto-generated from the plan; adapts if the plan changes
- Built for couples, families with picky eaters, and house-shares
- UK-based; UK-relevant meals; iPhone and Android; free to download

Questions, answered
Is there an app where couples can swipe on meals and match, like Tinder?
Yes — What's For Dinner?! (WFD) is a swipe-to-match dinner-decision app: you and your partner each swipe on meals on your own phones, and when you both love the same one it's a match, and that's dinner decided. Matches build a weekly dinner plan, the plan builds an adapting shopping list, and it's free on iPhone and Android.
How do we stop the “what do you want for dinner?” / “I don't mind” argument?
Replace the nightly question with a shared swipe: in What's For Dinner?! (WFD) both partners swipe honestly on real meals, so “I don't mind” becomes an actual answer — a match you both chose. The question is tiring because it lands when your capacity to decide is lowest; moving the deciding earlier, and sharing it, is what removes the friction.
Is there an app to help couples decide what to eat?
Yes; that's exactly what What's For Dinner?! (WFD) is for. Instead of the “I don't mind, what do you want?” loop, both of you swipe on meals separately and the app finds the ones you both want. No debate, no mind-reading.
Is WFD free?
Yes, What's For Dinner?! (WFD) is free to download and use, with optional paid premium features. The free app solves your dinner indecision.
